Selling financial services might seem a million miles away from selling kitchens, but for new Dream Doors franchisee, Barry Harrison, there were some parallels to be drawn. He knew the customers would be the same, it was just that the technicalities of the kitchen industry were new to him. But Dream Doors’ comprehensive training programme helped Barry develop the confidence and skills he needs to set up and run a successful new showroom in West Birmingham.
The former financial adviser, who is originally from Burntwood, said he was first drawn to Dream Doors because of the brand and its strong consumer offering.
Barry, 49, said:
I’ve never sold a kitchen before, but I’ve sold financial services before and investment products and there’s very little difference between the processes. There’s a lot of jobs and businesses for sale that only offer what I would consider to be a modest income. I looked at buying into a post office, but they wanted two times the annual profits to take it on -that was not viable for me.
Barry said he was looking for a franchise where he would be well supported as he set up and added:
Alex (Waite, Director of Franchise Recruitment for Dream Doors) played a big part in me joining. He played a massive part in building my confidence in taking on this venture and showing me its earning potential.
Dream Doors is looking for more talented franchisees like Barry who are ready to become local business owners and be part of an industry-leading brand.
The team hosts regular Discovery Day for interested parties, held at Dream Doors’ Training Centre in Hampshire, or at regional events throughout the year. There are just 19 new franchise territories available nationwide, particularly in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Scotland.
